Overview
Shabib al-Kharijí, one of the Kharijites in the time of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan. al-Tabari reports his death in the year 77 or 78 AH 1.
In al-Mas'udi
In the year 77 AH al-Hajjaj fought Shabib, until Shabib took refuge in the governor's house in Kufa. At dawn Shabib, his mother and his wife Ghazala entered the Kufa mosque. Abd al-Malik sent Sufyan ibn al-Abrad al-Kalbi, Shabib was defeated, and Ghazala and his mother were killed 2.
The story tells that his horse shied at the Dujayl bridge and threw him into the water 2.
Shawdhab
The book al-Dawla al-Umawiyya by al-Salabi reports that the movement of the Kharijite Shawdhab revived at the beginning of the caliphate of Yazid ibn Abd al-Malik, and that he was killed by Maslama in the year 101 AH 3.
A possible confusion between the two names needs an additional source.
