Overview

Subayt, a landholder (dihqan) of Basra, mentioned by al-Baladhuri in Futuh al-Buldan. He had a thicket on the land that al-Mansur reclaimed for the Subaytiyya estate 1.

His story

The source reports that the agent withheld part of its price from him and beat him. He kept at the door of al-Mansur demanding what remained owed to him until he died. The estate was then named the Subaytiyya 1.
