al-Subaytiyya
السبيطية
al-Subaytiyya, the estate al-Mansur cut from Basra's batiha over the town's objection; a dahqan named Subayt's reedbed was in it — the agent withheld part of its price and beat him, and he haunted al-Mansur's gate claiming the balance till he died, so the estate took his name.

Overview
al-Subaytiyya: an estate that al-Mansur brought out of the marsh of Basra against the wish of its people. 1
The reason for the name
There was a thicket in it belonging to a landowner called Subayt. The agent held back part of its price from him and beat him, so he stayed at the gate of al-Mansur demanding what was still owed to him until he died. The estate was then named after him. 1
