Overview

Yasir, a servant of al-Rashid, whom the caliph appointed to take the head of Ja'far ibn Yahya 1.

The report

al-Mas'udi reports that Ja'far told him to return to al-Rashid and tell him that he had carried out what he was ordered. If he regretted it, his life would be at the hands of a slave-girl. Yasir took him captive to the tent of al-Rashid. When he heard him say, "Bring him to me, or I will kill you before him", he blindfolded Ja'far and struck off his neck 1.

Then al-Rashid ordered Yasir's own neck struck, and said that he could not bear to look at the killer of Ja'far 1.
