Overview

Ziyadat Allah ibn al-Aghlab, known as Abu Mudar, the last of the Aghlabid amirs in Ifriqiya. He fled before al-Mahdi al-Ubaydi to Egypt and then came to Iraq, and from this date the Maghrib came out of the authority of the Abbasids 2.

His leaving Ifriqiya

al-Mas'udi reports that Abu Abd Allah al-Muhtasib, the missionary who appeared among the Kutama calling people to Ubayd Allah, drove him out of Ifriqiya 3. Ibn Khaldun reports that he fled from Raqqada to Egypt when Abu Abd Allah al-Shi'i took the country in the year 296 AH, and the people of Raqqada plundered the palaces of the Banu al-Aghlab 4.

His last days

Ibn al-Athir reports that he stayed for a time after he left, that he returned to Egypt and went to Jerusalem, and died at Ramla and was buried there. He put the duration of the Aghlabid rule at a hundred and twelve years 5.
