Abhar
أبهر
A town between Hamadhan and Qazwin; al-Bara' ibn Azib besieged it en route to Qazwin — its fortress had been built by a Persian lord over springs dammed with ox-hides and wool, a bench laid and the fort raised above — fought, then sought aman on Nihawand's terms, which he granted, and he seized Abhar's lands.

Overview
The fortress and safe-conduct
al-Bara ibn Azib came to it on his way to Qazvin, and its people fought him from their fortress. The fortress had been built by some Persians over springs that were sealed with cowhide and wool; a platform was made over them, and the fortress was then raised on top of it. 1
Then its people asked for safe-conduct, and he granted it to them on the same terms that Hudhayfa had granted the people of Nihawand, and he took possession of its lands. 1
