Overview

al-Rusafa: the eastern side of Baghdad. al-Baladhuri reports that al-Mansur built it for al-Mahdi, and it was called the camp of al-Mahdi because he camped there when he set out for al-Rayy. He settled there when he came in the year 151 AH. 1
