Overview

Hazardar is a palace in Basra with many doors. It was built by Shirawayh al-Asawari for Murjana, mother of Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad. 1

Why it was named

The source gives two accounts of the name. It is said that a thousand doors were made in it. It is also said that a thousand Asawira (cavalrymen) settled the place in a thousand houses which Kisra had assigned to them. 1
