Overview
"Al-Mughrib fi Hula al-Maghrib" (The Western Adornment of the Maghrib), an encyclopaedia by Ali ibn Musa ibn Said al-Maghribi on the history and literature of the Maghrib and al-Andalus. 2
Its divisions
The author divided it into parts. One of them is "Washy al-Tiras fi Hula Jazirat al-Andalus", which has four books beneath it: "Hatla al-Ghars" on western al-Andalus, "Al-Shifah al-Lus" on its middle, "Al-Uns" on its east, and "Lahazat al-Murib fima Hamahu Ibad al-Salib". Then come "Al-Alhan al-Muslia fi Hula Jazirat Siqilliya" and "Al-Ghaya al-Akhira fi Hula al-Ard al-Kabira". 2
He placed "Hatla al-Ghars" first because Cordoba was the pole of the Marwanid caliphate and Seville the most beautiful city of al-Andalus. He divided it into seven books for the territories of Cordoba, Seville, Malaga, Badajoz, Silves, Beja and Ashouna. The author gave the book a licence of transmission to al-Tifashi and to Jamal al-Din Ibn Khatlakh. 2
