Overview

"Usd al-Ghaba fi Marifat al-Sahaba" (The Lions of the Thicket: Knowing the Companions), a book on the names of the Companions by Ibn al-Athir al-Jazari. The author of "Al-Tajrid" described it as precious and comprehensive. 1

It gathers the Companions named in four books: the book of Ibn Manda, the book of Abu Nu'aym, the book of Abu Musa al-Isfahani, which is a supplement to Ibn Manda, and the book of Ibn Abd al-Barr, with the author's own additions. He gave the mark (d) to Ibn Manda, (a) to Abu Nu'aym, (b) to Ibn Abd al-Barr, and (s) to Abu Musa. 1
