Summary
His role at Badr
He was one of the Islamic army's two horsemen and was given command of the left wing 3. At the council in the valley of Dha Afran he rose after Abu Bakr and Umar and spoke his famous words: we will not tell you as the Children of Israel told Musa "go, you and your Lord, and fight" — but "were you to march with us to Bark al-Ghimad we would fight beside you until you reach it"; the Prophet prayed for good for him 4.
After Badr
He lived into Uthman's caliphate and died at al-Jurf near Medina in year thirty-three, on the well-known account 1.
