Overview
Abu Jahl announced to Quraysh that he would sit before the Prophet with a stone he could not lift, and when the Prophet prostrated he would smash his head with it. If they betrayed him or refused, then the Banu Abd Manaf could do whatever seemed right to them afterwards. 1 2 When the Prophet prostrated and Abu Jahl drew near, he turned back in retreat, his face drained of colour, because a stallion camel came at him. The Prophet said it was Gabriel, who would have seized him had he come near. 1 2
