Overview
Riyah ibn Hilal is a branch of Banu Hilal ibn Amir. Ibn Khaldun describes them as among the most numerous Arab peoples in the Maghrib. 1
Their homelands
Their lands were in the regions of Constantine, al-Salam and al-Zab. Among them were Utba in the regions of Bejaia, and a great many in the far Maghrib. Among them were the Banu Ali, emirs of Gabes. 1
Ibn Khaldun quotes Ibn Hazm's view of them: that they were among the branches of Banu Hilal "who corrupted Ifriqiya". This is Ibn Hazm's judgement as Ibn Khaldun relays it. 1
