Overview

In Jumada al-Ula of the 2nd year AH, the Prophet set out with one hundred and fifty of the emigrants, or it is said two hundred, to intercept the Quraysh caravan returning from Syria. He reached Dhu al-Ushayra and found that the caravan had passed it by several days 1.

The route

They were on thirty camels, which they rode in turns. Dhu al-Ushayra lies in the area of Yanbu' 1.

Outcome

In this expedition he concluded a treaty of non-aggression with Banu Mudlij and Damra. This caravan is the one that became the reason for the Battle of Badr the Great 1.

The same event is described as the expedition of Dhu al-Ushayra.
