Overview

A trading journey with the wealth of Khadija bint Khuwaylid to Syria, on which the Prophet Muhammad went out, with her servant Maysara 1.

The route

  • From Mecca to Syria: Khadija offered that he should go out with her wealth as a merchant, and she would give him the best of what she gave other merchants. He accepted and went out, with Maysara, until they reached Syria 1.
  • From Syria to Mecca: When he returned to Mecca, Khadija saw in her wealth a trustworthiness and blessing that she had not seen before. Maysara told her what he had seen of his fine qualities and noble character 2.

On the road

The text does not mention stations between Mecca and Syria, and does not identify a particular city in Syria, so no stations are listed.

Notes

The text gives no date for this journey other than the Prophet ﷺ's age at the time (twenty-five years), so no date has been set for it. The journey was the beginning of the story of his marriage to Khadija 1.
