Overview

Hujr ibn al-Harith ibn Amr al-Kindi, Abu Imru al-Qays, the eldest son of al-Harith ibn Amr al-Kindi and father of the poet Imru al-Qays. He was of Kinda. 2

His rule

Ibn al-Athir reports that his father made him ruler over the Banu Asad ibn Khuzayma, Ghatafan and Kinana, and set for him a reward and a tribute from them. 2

His killing

When he sent his tax collector, the Banu Asad drove away his envoys. He marched against them, took their leaders, seized their property and imprisoned a group of their nobles, among them Ubayd ibn al-Abras. Then their soothsayer Awf ibn Rabi'a prophesied, and they fell upon him in his tent, and Alba' ibn al-Harith al-Kahili killed him, as Hujr had killed his father. Qays and Kinana plundered his spoils. 2

His brothers, in our data, are Shurahbil ibn al-Harith and Salama ibn al-Harith al-Taghlibi. 3
