Overview
Imran ibn Amir al-Kahin, brother of Amr ibn Amir Muzayqiya, of the Azd in the pre-Islamic period. Al-Mas'udi relates that he directed the sons of the Azd when they went out from Ma'rib. 1
Directing the Azd
According to al-Mas'udi's account, each group was called to a destination according to what it wanted. 1
- Whoever wants need, policy and insight should go to the valley of Marr, where Khuza'a settled.
- Whoever wants palms should go to Yathrib, where al-Aws and al-Khazraj settled.
- Whoever wants wine, silk and management should go to Busra and Huffayr, where the Ghassanids settled.
- Whoever wants fine garments, swift horses and treasures should go to Iraq.
As for Imran himself, he stayed with the Banu Nasr of the Azd between al-Sarat and Mecca. 1
