Overview

Abu Muslim, also said to be Abu Amr, Ubayda ibn Amr al-Salmani al-Muradi al-Hamdani, a Kufan jurist 1.

Islam and learning

al-Shirazi reports that he embraced Islam two years before the Prophet ﷺ's death without having seen him, and that he died in the year 72 AH. He transmits from Abu Ishaq that there was no one in Kufa more knowledgeable of inheritance (al-fara'id) than him and al-Harith al-A'war 1.

The book counts him among the companions of Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud. The report of his conversion two years before the Prophet's death needs an additional source. In the margin of Ibn Sa'd he is called Ubayda ibn Qays 2.
