al-Baladhuri reports that Umar ibn al-Khattab assigned him four thousand, and Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Jahsh objected. Umar said that he gave him more because of his place with the Prophet, and that whoever sought help from a mother like Umm Salama was helped 1.
