Overview
Yahya ibn Zakrawayh rose in Syria in the days of the caliph al-Muktafi, and the fighting between him and the caliph's army continued until he was killed in the year 290 AH 1.
After his death
His brother al-Husayn took his place, and displayed a beauty spot on his face, which he claimed was his sign. His paternal cousin Isa ibn Mahrawayh came to him, and claimed that his title was "al-Mudaththir" 1.
al-Suyuti reports that al-Husayn was called "Commander of the Faithful, the Mahdi", and that the sermon was given for him on the pulpits, and that the three were killed in the year 291 AH 1.
