Overview

Yamut ibn al-Muzarri, a traditionist and man of letters, whose maternal uncle was al-Jahiz 1.

From his reports

al-Mas'udi reports that he said in his last illness that he was ill with a contradictory sickness from two places, of illnesses and of religion, and that his age was a little over seventy years. He would not visit a sick person, for fear that people might take a bad omen from his name 1.

He settled in Tiberias in the land of Jordan after the year 300 AH. He had a son named Muhalhil, a fine poet, whom al-Mas'udi mentioned in the year 332 AH 1.
