أبو عبد الله محمد بن موسى الخوارزمي عالم رياضيات وفلك. عدّه المسعودي فيمن عُني بعلوم الهيئة (الفلك) بعد ظهور الإسلام، مع الكندي وأبي معشر والفرغاني وثابت بن قرة والبتاني وغيرهم. 1
تذكر بيانات المتحف مولده نحو سنة 164هـ (780م) ووفاته نحو سنة 235هـ (850م)، وهما تاريخان على سبيل الرواية، ويعتمدان على مصدر واحد هو موسوعة أعلام العلماء والأدباء، فيحتاجان إلى مصدر إضافي. 2
