Overview

Ghiyath, a man named in a story that Ibn al-Nadim transmits about the first of the Banu al-Qaddah to come to al-Rayy, Azerbaijan and Tabaristan. This first was a cotton carder, and his son succeeded him. After the son, a man known as Ghiyath succeeded. After his death his son succeeded him, together with a man known as al-Mahrum; then Abu Hatim al-Warsnani succeeded both. Ibn al-Nadim describes him as a Dualist who then became a materialist, then a heretic, and was left in doubt. 2
