Overview

Ibn Tayfur, physician of the caliph al-Muntasir. Al-Suyuti in Tarikh al-Khulafa' relates the report of al-Muntasir's death at his hands. 2

The report

According to the report, the Turks slipped thirty thousand dinars to him during the caliph's illness. He advised that the caliph be bled, then bled him with a poisoned quill, and he died. 2

In another version, it is said that he forgot and fell ill himself, so he ordered his servant to bleed the caliph with that quill, and the caliph died, and he too died. 2

The report is given with "it is said", and needs an additional source.
