Overview

Mundhir ibn Sa'id al-Balluti, judge and preacher of Córdoba in the time of al-Nasir. Al-Maqqari relates that al-Nasir celebrated the arrival of the envoys of the lord of Constantinople in 336 AH and ordered the preachers to preach, and they stumbled. Mundhir rose without preparation, preached, and recited a long poem that he improvised. 1

Al-Maqqari says that people marvelled at him, and al-Nasir was impressed by him and then made him judge. He adds that his sermon on that day is transmitted in the books of Ibn Hayyan and others. 1

Note: the museum holds another entry for this person, Munzir al-Balluti, and the two need to be reviewed for merging.
