Ziri ibn Manad al-Sanhaji, lord of the Sanhaja. The Fatimid caliph al-Qa'im wrote to him in the year 333 AH, and to the lords of Kutama and the tribes, urging them to gather at al-Mahdiyya and fight Abu Yazid the Kharijite, and they made ready to march 2.
In Ibn Khaldun
Ibn Khaldun reports that he laid out the city of Ashir as a stronghold beside the mountain of Titra. al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah appointed him over his people, over Tahart and its districts, and permitted him to build palaces and baths at Ashir. He was among the greatest of the Fatimid allies, and the Maghrawa and the rest of the Zanata turned away from the Shi'a because of this 3.
In the revolt of Abu Yazid he leaned toward the Kharijites while letting crowds slip away to support the Ubaydids. Then his son Buluggin, by his command, laid out the cities of Algiers, Miliana and Medea 3.
