Overview

The well of Rumah: an ancient well at al-Aqiq that had become blocked. Some men of Muzayna of the Ansar formed an alliance and repaired it, and it was named after Rumah, a woman of theirs who used to draw water from it for the people. The Prophet passed by it and saw a man of Muzayna drawing water from it for a wage, and he said words to the effect that it is a charity for the believer. Uthman ibn Affan bought it for four hundred dinars and gave it in charity. Then the Prophet passed by it again and asked about it; he was told its story, and he prayed for Uthman to enter Paradise. 2
