Overview

The Day of Rahrahan is one of the days of the Arabs before Islam, between the Banu Amir ibn Sa'sa'a and the Banu Darim ibn Malik of Tamim. 1

The account

al-Baladhuri, in "Ansab al-Ashraf", relates that Khalid ibn Ja'far al-Kilabi fought the Banu Abs, and with his companions killed their lord Zuhayr ibn Judhayma, and then sought protection with al-Nu'man. al-Harith ibn Zalim guaranteed Ghatafan that he would finish with Khalid, and he killed him at the court of al-Nu'man, and Ma'bad ibn Zurara gave him refuge. 1

al-Ahwas ibn Ja'far went out with the Banu Amir against the Banu Darim, and they met at Rahrahan and fought. Ma'bad ibn Zurara was struck with a spear, and was taken captive by Udrut of the Amir and by al-Tufayl, the two sons of Malik of Ghani, who gave them twenty camels as reward. 1
