al-Nu'man ibn al-Mundhir's boon-companion whose intercession admitted al-Nabigha to the court — himself praised by the king as finer in prose than the poet in verse 1.

Overview

Khalid ibn Ja'far al-Kilabi, boon companion of al-Nu'man ibn al-Mundhir, king of al-Hira. He interceded for al-Nabigha al-Dhubyani with the king's chamberlain until he brought him in. 1

Other accounts

Al-Baladhuri says that he fought the Banu Abs and was killed, with his companions, when their chief Zuhayr ibn Judhayma was killed. He then went to al-Nu'man and sought his protection, fearing the pursuit of his people for the blood of Zuhayr. Al-Harith ibn Zalim entered and killed him, and his brother al-Ahwas went out with the Banu Amir to seek his killer, and that was the day of Rahrahan. 2
