Overview
Al-Hira: the capital of the Manadhira near Kufa; seat of the Arab kings who were Persia's wardens on the desert marches for three and a half centuries.
The place
In Ardashir's era al-Hira was the seat of the Arab kings subject to Persia; its king kept a battalion of Persian soldiers with him to aid him against desert Arabs who rebelled against his authority 1.
Lakhm's kings succeeded one another there from Amr ibn Adi until the last of them, al-Nu'man called al-Ma'rur, in 632 CE 1.
