Summary
His bequest of his wealth
He bequeathed his wealth to the Prophet — seven orchards: al-Maythab, al-Sa'ifa, al-Dalal, Husna, Barqa, al-A'waf and the mashraba of Umm Ibrahim — and the Prophet made them alms 1. In al-Zubayr ibn Bakkar's account in Akhbar al-Madina some names differ: he gives al-Maythar instead of al-Maythab and al-Ma'wan instead of al-A'waf 1.
Uhud
Umar ibn Shabba relates in Akhbar al-Madina from Ibn Shihab that the Prophet's endowed alms had been Mukhayriq's wealth bequeathed to him, and that he witnessed Uhud and was killed there — and the Prophet said: "Mukhayriq is the forerunner of the Jews, Salman the forerunner of Persia, and Bilal the forerunner of Abyssinia" 1. Abd al-Aziz said: it has reached me that he was of the remnants of Banu Qaynuqa' 1.
Al-Zubayr ibn Bakkar's account
Al-Zubayr relates from Uthman ibn Ka'b ibn Muhammad that when the Prophet went out to Uhud, Mukhayriq said to the Jews: "will you not aid Muhammad? By God, you know that aiding him is binding upon you." They said: "today is the Sabbath." He said: "no Sabbath" — took his sword and went to the Prophet and fought until wounds finished him; when death drew near he said: "my wealth goes to Muhammad, to place where he wishes" 1.
