واقعة ابن شنبوذ
واقعة ابن شنبوذ
c. 935 CE · 323 AH
In 323 came the famous affair of Ibn Shanabudh: made to repent of reading the shadh variants, the record written against him before the vizier Ibn Muqla. His prayer was answered — he had called down the severing of the vizier's hand, and Ibn Muqla's hand was indeed cut off 1.

Overview
In 323 AH came the affair of Ibn Shanabudh, which al-Suyuti describes as famous. 1
The account
Ibn Shanabudh was required to repent of reciting the irregular readings, and a record was drawn up against him in the presence of the vizier Abu Ali ibn Muqla. 1
Al-Suyuti says that Ibn Shanabudh invoked God against the vizier that He cut off his hand, and his invocation was answered, so the vizier's hand was cut off and he tasted humiliation. This is what al-Suyuti reports, not the museum's own judgement. 1
The proceedings of the trial and the arguments of the parties are not recorded here: an additional source is needed.
