Overview
The Perished Arabs (al-Arab al-Ba'ida): the first of the Arabs' three divisions in the historians' scheme — the ancient nations from whose annals not enough detail has reached us.
The division
Historians divide the Arab peoples by lineage into three: the Perished Arabs — the ancients of whose history no sufficient details can be obtained, such as Ad, Thamud, Tasm, Jadis, the Amaliq and others; then the Pure Arabs descending from Qahtan; and the Arabised Arabs descending from Isma'il 1.
