Banu Zurayq
بنو زريق
A clan of the Khazraj, Banu Zurayq ibn 'Amir; fewer than Banu Bayada, they left their quarter shortly before Islam for their known quarter before the musalla and the market at Dhurwan, building utum including one at the corner of Kabir ibn al-Salt's house and 'al-Rayyan' by the Saqifat al-Rayyan of the Suraqa family. A standing war with Banu Bayada and Banu Habib ran until settled by blood-money, the lane they were granted being named 'the Lane of the Diya'; they shared with Banu Bayada the fame of 'slowest to flee, fastest to charge' 1.

Overview
Banu Zurayq, a branch of al-Khazraj; their lineage is Zurayq ibn Amir ibn Zurayq ibn Abd Haritha. 2
Homes
They were fewer in number than Banu Bayada and feared that the Bayada would outnumber them, so shortly before Islam they left their home for their known dwelling before the prayer-ground and the market of Medina, at Dhuruwan and its surroundings. They built fortified houses, among them one at the corner of the house of Kabir ibn al-Salt at the prayer-ground, and the fortress "al-Rayyan", near "the Rayyan canopy" of the family of Saraqa. 2
War and blood money
A state of war continued between them, Banu Bayada and Banu Habib, which messengers kept trying to settle with blood money until they agreed to pay it. They gave the Bayada a lane called "the Lane of the Blood Money". Al-Samhudi mentions that they were, with Banu Bayada and Banu Ghafr, "the slowest to retreat and the quickest to return to the attack". 2
