Summary

A man of Banu Tamim (named Hurqus ibn Zuhayr al-Sa'di) who faced the Prophet boldly at the al-Ji'rana division saying: "be just, Muhammad — by God you have not been just!"; the Prophet refuted him, denounced his saying, and foretold that the Kharijites would come from his offspring 1.

His affair at al-Ji'rana

Ibn Ishaq relates from Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Baqir and Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi that Dhu al-Khuwaysira came up to the Prophet as he divided the Hunayn spoils and said: "Muhammad, I have seen what you did in this booty — he said: and what did you see? — he said: I have not seen you deal justly!" The Prophet grew angry and said: "woe to you — if justice is not with me, with whom can it be?" 1

Umar ibn al-Khattab begged leave to kill him; the Prophet forbade it saying: "let him be — he will have a faction who will go deep into the religion until they pass out of it as the arrow passes through the game" 2. He afterwards became one of the Kharijite leaders and was killed at al-Nahrawan 2.

For young visitors

A man confronted the Prophet rudely and ill-manneredly while money was being distributed; the Prophet treated him with forbearance and kept his companions from killing him, warning against extremism and conceit.
