A paramount chieftain and arbitrator of Banu Tamim in Najd; given one hundred camels at al-Ji'rana among al-Mu'allafa Qulubuhum to reconcile his tribe, he became a loyal Companion and participated in the early Islamic conquests.

Summary
Chief of Banu Tamim in the Jahiliyya and one of the Arabs' sages; he became Muslim after the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet gave him a hundred camels at al-Ji'rana within the share of those whose hearts are won over, and he afterwards became a striving Companion who witnessed the Ridda wars and the conquest of Khurasan 1.
In Ibn Hisham's Sira
The Prophet gave him a hundred camels from the Hunayn booty to win his heart and seek the Islam of Banu Tamim's great tribes in Najd 1. His Islam afterwards proved good; he stood firm in the Ridda wars with Khalid ibn al-Walid, marched in the Islamic conquests, and was martyred in the land of Juzjan in Khurasan in Uthman's caliphate 1.
