Summary

Uthman ibn Talha ibn Abi Talha al-Abdari, "the House's doorkeeper"; his mother Umm Sa'id bint al-Aws 1.

Before his Islam

His father Talha and his uncle Uthman ibn Abi Talha were killed at Uhud 1.

His Islam

He became Muslim in the al-Hudaybiyya truce and emigrated with Khalid ibn al-Walid; he witnessed the conquest with the Prophet, who gave him the Ka'ba's key 1. In the two Sahihs, in Ibn Umar's hadith: "the Prophet entered the Ka'ba, and with him entered Bilal, Uthman ibn Talha and Usama ibn Zayd" 1.

A rejected report

Ibn Hajar mentions that al-Tha'labi's Tafsir has, without chain, under al-Nisa' 58, that Uthman became Muslim only on the conquest day after the Prophet handed him the House's key. He rules it "rejected" — the established account is that he became Muslim and emigrated with Amr ibn al-As and Khalid ibn al-Walid 1.

His death

He settled at Medina until he died there in 42 AH — said al-Waqidi and Ibn al-Barqi; or it is said he was martyred at Ajnadayn — al-Askari said that is false 2.
