Overview

Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, a well-known imam in theology and Qur'anic exegesis, as Ibn al-Athir describes him. 1

After the killing of al-Ghuri

When Shihab al-Din al-Ghuri was killed in 602 AH, some people of Ghazna came to his mamluks and told them that al-Razi had killed their master, because he had brought about the death of the man who killed him and had brought down the Khwarazm Shah. 1

They rose against him to kill him, but he fled and went to the vizier Mu'ayyid al-Mulk, who secretly sent him to a place of safety. 1

This is Ibn al-Athir's report of what the people of Ghazna said, not a judgement of the museum.

The Firuzkuh fitna (595 AH)

595 AH: Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, newly honoured at the Ghurid court with a madrasa beside the Herat jami', debated the Karrami shaykh Ibn al-Qadwa before Sultan Ghiyath al-Din at Firuzkuh; after al-Razi insulted the standing sultan, Ibn al-Qadwa preached the next day disavowing the philosophers, the crowd wept and the town filled for riot until the sultan quieted it by sending al-Razi back to Herat — a window on Karrami strength in the Ghurid realm.
